This game takes the Infinite scrolling mechanic and basically taught us how to make games like doodle jump or even flappy bird & Super Mario
During the creation of this game, I learned a lot of new things for 2D development and found the creation process to be quite enjoyable. For the most part the biggest takeaways I got from making this game was creating a Scene and Score manager for the game along with basic game mechanics like programming movement. On top of this I got to add goofy sound effects to make the game feel more immersive, along with very basic sound effects. I also got to make special collectables that have their own mechanics where one takes away horizontal movement from the player for a short interval & one that takes away jumps for a short interval.
The struggling came around at the end of development where everything was mostly completed. I learned very quickly how changing the values of a couple things can sometimes lead to everything breaking and requiring fixes. For the most part, the errors I would run into would be null reference errors and very minor things like my score system glitching out over a missing colon or symbol in general.
Overall, this game was enjoyable to make and I learned a lot from this experience. If you want, you're welcome to look at the programming here!
These are parts of the "Infinite" Jumper game in the Unity Inspector and editor. For the most part, this is what most of the Game Objects within this game looked like; With many Components and hitboxes for almost all of the Game Objects, there was a lot of coding that did go into this project.
