Harman Dev

PhD Candidate (2023-present). Harman received his BHSc from McMaster University in Biochemistry where he joined the Andres lab as an undergrad thesis student before continuing in the graduate program. Harman is investigating the non-homologous end joining DNA repair pathway in bacteria. Outside of the lab, Harman enjoys watching and playing soccer, cooking, and watching TV.

Shehreen Khan

PhD Candidate (2024-present). Shehreen received her BSc from the University of Waterloo in Biochemistry in 2024. Shehreen is investigating the translesion DNA damage bypass mechanisms that pathogenic bacteria can use to acquire antibiotic resistance under stress. Outside of the lab, Shehreen is an experimental at home coffee-barista and enjoys walking with her dog Lego.

Jasper Che

MsC Student (2026-present). Jasper received his BSc from the University of Waterloo in Biochemistry in 2026. He is currently working in collaboration with the MacNeil lab on in vivo studies of the TLS and NHEJ pathways in P. aeruginosa and their role in their pathogenicity using C. elegans assays. Beyond the lab, he is a huge motorsports and car nerd and enjoys doing sim racing and playing other video games.

Alyssa Bocskay

4th year thesis student

Alyssa is in her fourth year of her BHSc in Biochemistry at McMaster University. Her project is focused on characterizing the activity of ImuC, a polymerase involved in the translesion DNA damage bypass mechanisms that pathogenic bacteria can use to acquire antibiotic resistance under stress. Outside of the lab, Alyssa enjoys spending time outside, cafe-hopping, or figure skating!

Harrish Karunakaran

Harrish is in the third year of his BHSc in Biochemistry at McMaster University. He is working on crystallizing and solving structures of proteins involved in NHEJ and TLS. Outside of the lab, Harrish enjoys watching movies, watching sports and playing chess.
