Economic advisor at Banca d'Italia. Previously: economist at the European Central Bank. I earned the PhD degree at the Stockholm School of Economics in August 2019.

My research interests are in the fields of monetary and international macroeconomics.

In my work I study the macroeconomic effects of demographic change with particular focus on interest rates, relative prices, capital flows and the conduct of monetary policy. Other work focuses on structural transformation; goods and services tradability; amendments to the New-Keynesian framework (solutions to the forward guidance puzzle, how to incorporate demographics, search and matching frictions). I have recently contributed to the development of "epi-macro" models (cf. www.epi-mmb.com) to understand the macroeconomic side of epidemics.

I have contributed to the debate on the governance of the European Economic and Monetary Union with research projects on the Target2 payment system.
