River Tails: Stronger Together is a 3D co-op adventure platformer with a colourful cartoon aesthetic. Teammates must work together to defeat end-of-level bosses and solve puzzles across a range of natural-world environments.
Play either as Furple, the curious and excitable purple kitten, or Finn, the independent fish with a bit of an attitude problem. You’ll embark upstream with these unexpected allies, towards the icy mountain where Furple’s family are in mortal danger. Can you save them in time?

Collectibles Placement
During the production of the game, a consistent part of my job was to analyze the implemented levels under different lenses: testing, pacing, metrics and coherency with the current level theme, using different methods like pacing graphs and proximy diagrams to identify the major flaws and discuss them with the team.
After that, I would propose, first on paper and once approved, in engine, different solutions for specific problems.
I was tasked with the creation of different levels, both for the main campaign, both for time trial mode.
For each level, I was pitched the general idea of the level and starting from that, starting proposing different layouts, settings and mechanics.
Each proposal was corroborated by the relative documentation and after the approval, I laid out the level in Editor, using the tools provided by the Team.
I was responsible of the placement of the collectibles in all the levels, studying the optimal way to use them to reward the player and guide them through the level, nudging them towards the next objective.
This level was designed as an introductory space for new gameplay mechanics.
Following the narrative climax of the previous biome (a cave environment), I deliberately shifted the focus towards open exploration and spatial freedom, encouraging both players to engage in broader, more dynamic movement.
The level is carefully structured into distinct beats, alternating between platforming challenges and puzzle-solving moments.
To gradually increase the pacing towards the end, I introduced occasional timed sections, providing a natural escalation of tension and rhythm within the gameplay flow.
Time range: 3:01:01- 3:20:45
"Juicy Factory" serves as a follow-up to "It's a Knock Hard Beaver Life," offering a more contained environment focused on skill-based challenges.
In contrast to the expansive exploration of the previous level, this stage emphasizes precision and cooperation. The level is segmented into distinct "chambers," each designed to test specific player skills through puzzles, hidden secrets, and varied gameplay scenarios.
Between these chambers, players encounter transitional zones that require synchronized platforming and collaborative mechanics. These interstitial areas are crafted to reinforce teamwork, ensuring both players must actively engage and support each other to progress.
Time range: 3:20:51- 3:43:58
"Return to the Source" stands as one of the longest and most complex levels in the game, strategically placed right before the final act.
Throughout this level, players face a series of increasingly challenging coordination and cooperation tasks, reinforcing all the mechanics and skills acquired throughout the journey.
At the midpoint, players enter a large open area designed with optional secondary objectives, enriching both navigation and exploration dynamics.
The level builds towards a climactic final ascent: a challenging mountain climb that demands perfect synchronization between the two players to overcome increasingly demanding platforming sequences and collaborative mechanics.
Time range: 3:44:02- 4:10:48
Time Trials are a series (8 levels) of short, high-intensity levels where players must fully coordinate to complete the course in the shortest time possible.
These levels were designed to maximize the potential of the newly developed cooperation system, pushing players to synchronize their movements and actions under increasing time pressure.
Built with a rapid prototyping approach, the Time Trials efficiently leveraged the new mechanics to create fast-paced, tightly focused gameplay experiences.
