Day 4 - Cruise to Havelock Islands

Havelock - The queen been of the archipelago. The island on every itinerary.

Day 4 started at 8AM in the morning. We skipped the breakfast in the hotel and went to a small bakery opposite the airport gate to grab some egg puff and coffee (spoiled by out lifestyle in Bangalore, we could no longer have the paratha sabzi in breakfast). So we left an hour before, and as it was on way later jumped into the car midway.

We were booked on the Green ocean 2 (page cover pic), departing at 12:30 PM. A very nicely maintained boat with 2 levels of seating. The upper deck is the better one, of-course with a higher price. Its quieter and you wont feel sea sick as much. The lower deck gets much more engine noise. So you are more prone to get sea sick on the lower deck.

The boat has proper toilet and a snacks counter on the lower deck to keep you occupied. It also plays a tourist video of Andaman, so you can re-vist the places you have been to and pre-visit the places you are still to go.

We finally landed on Havelock at 2:30 PM. Had a very traditional south indian thali at Dakshin. This restaurant is right outside the jetty. A little pricy though, compared to Port Blair. So that established the fact that, we have landed on the most touristy island of the group.

We had room booked in Gold India Beach resort. A nice resort with access to the beach. I was so excited to get out there and see the water again. We changed freshen up and took a stroll on the beach. The clean sand, clear water and suddenly you are all happy in life again. But sadly time just rushed upon us and the day came to an end.

After dark, we wanted to take a walk on the road but the roads here are dark and lonely. So we checked out a few restaurants around our resorts and came back. The rest of the evening was family bonding , followed by a bong dinner at the resort restaurant.

Havelock had changed so much from our last visit. This island has developed a lot. From what I remember, the roads are now better. They even have few street lights now.

The place is surly becoming the tourist capital for the island group.
