Silvery body feathers. White on cheeks and forehead intermediate between the two parent species. The black mask around the eyes is usually a slightly different pattern than on aberrant Cackling with white foreheads. Breast black or very dark chestnut color.
Similar to Barnacle x Canada Goose with size and proportions being the most important. Some individuals are perhaps grayer and less brown on average, but this should not be used alone. Shorter neck, smaller bill, smaller overall, and less lanky proportions than Barnacle x Canada. Most features useful in separating pure Cackling from Canada are useful here.

Widespread in the wild, especially in eastern North America; probably in Europe as well. Very common in the Netherlands due to feral Cackling Goose populations. Likely occurs as an escapee elsewhere, but provenance in some parts of Europe may be hard to determine. Appears to be fertile.
