Products & Services

Vernier Software & Technology focuses their product lines and services to promote powerful learning experiences for students in the science classroom. Their products can be classified into three categories seen below. In addition to these revenue-generating services, Vernier also supports teacher professional development through authorship of a blog and hosting a variety of webinars and workshops.

Sensors

Vernier offers a number of digital sensors and interfaces that allow for innovative scientific data collection. These sensors support Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering and Robotics. Vernier has recently started developing wireless solutions to make lab work even easier.

Software

To utilize the company's sensors and interfaces, users will need access to Vernier software. Software applications includes video analysis, graphical analysis and graphical calculators.

Lab Books

Lab books are produced and sold to support the use of Vernier sensors and software. These lab books range from single activities to extensive ranges of laboratory ideas for teachers.

History

Vernier has been a leader in supporting science education since Dave and Christine Vernier founded the company in 1981. Dave began his career as a Physics teacher in Cleveland, Ohio and saw an opportunity to create more engaging and hands-on experiences for students to 'do' science. They got their start developing and selling Physics computer programs, and eventually expanded to physical products such as probes and sensors. They currently employ 115 employees and support science classrooms in over 150 countries worldwide.

Founders & CEO

Co-Founders: Dave and Christine Vernier

Dave is a passionate scientist who has a B.S in Physics and M.S. in General Science. He founded the company after teaching high school science for 12 years. Christine worked in law for nearly 10 years after obtaining a B.A. in Sociology. She lead (and still serves as co-president) the business operations of the company for a number of years.

CEO: John Wheeler

John has an electrical engineering background and has been with Vernier for nearly 30 years. Within the company he has served as a design engineer, director of engineering, chief technology officer and now CEO.
