Reflection

I was a bit hesitant to explore Mathletics because there are so many Math platforms available, however, as I dive deeper in my personal philosophy of teaching and what I want for my students, I decided to explore it further. I am always on a quest to explore multiple means of representing learning to my students, and exploring this platform truly opened my eyes for what to look for in my upcoming Venture Pitch Assignment. This analysis has offered insights into emerging challenges for online web applications for learning. Mathletics offers multiple means of representation to learn, which is one of the principles guided by Universal Design for Learning. Throughout my research, I did not find a comparable product that offered built in learner support, a focus on critical thinking and problem solving, and alignment to the British Columbia Math curriculum. Finally, in order to critically assess digital learning in education there needs to be a concrete approach that focuses on specified areas, because there are many angles to view a venture from (e.g. curriculum alignment, student engagement, accessibility, affordability, etc.)
