Direct Teaching

My dedication to teaching goes beyond the ordinary, as I consistently take on a substantial share of teaching responsibilities in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. My teaching load covers not only credit courses for our students in the Colleges of Public Health and Allied Health but also the Teaching Online: Design, Delivery, and Teaching Presence course for UNMC faculty and doctoral and post-doctoral students in the spring and summer semesters.  I receive consistent recognition for my teaching excellence, as reflected in my course evaluations, which are consistently above a 4.6 on a 5-point scale. My goal is to deliver exceptional education, and I take pride in setting a high standard while inspiring my colleagues through my commitment to teaching excellence.

Instructional Development & Curricular Design

I am proud of the innovative courses, curricula, and educational materials I have created for my courses, other educators' courses, and supporting materials for educators at UNMC.  I have received exceptional evaluations from students, faculty participants, and peers, in addition to creating multiple courses at UNMC, including Integrating Technology into Teaching (HPTT), Public Health Teaching and Training, and Teaching Online: Design, Delivery, and Teaching Presence. I have worked with faculty to create new courses and, most recently, was an integral part of our DrPH curriculum's new concentration and core redesign.  As a consultant, I have been invited to two Universities to facilitate and guide faculty and program design. The impact on student learning and the positive reception from those engaging with my curriculum development processes fuels my passion for creating effective and impactful educational content.

Educational Administration & Leadership

Throughout my career, I've taken on pivotal roles within our institution. I currently serve as director of the COPH Office of Teaching and Learning, UNMC director of Distance Education, and associate director of the Interprofessional Academy of Educators. I also actively contribute to significant educational committees. My commitment to these leadership positions has been driven by a passion for fostering excellence in education and making impactful decisions that shape the academic landscape at UNMC.

I take great pride in the positive outcomes achieved through my leadership, whether it's the development of innovative curriculum structures, the successful management of programs, or the invaluable contributions made to major educational committees. I believe that effective leadership isn't just about making decisions but also about the lasting impact those decisions have on the educational community.
