Class: 6th form
Age: 10/11 years old
Time allotted: 60 minutes
Communicative goal: identifying the capitals of European countries.
Vocabulary focus: naming countries and its capitals.
Objective: at the end of this lesson sts. will be able to identify the countries of Europe and its capitals.
Warm (25 minutes)
The teacher will introduce the topic by presenting a video about European countries:

After watching the video, T. will divide the group into pairs to discuss about the video:
· What is Europe surrounded by?
· How many countries does Europe have?
· What is the smallest country in Europe?
· Where is the biggest population in Europe?
· What are the countries that The Alps stretch across? Name some of them.
· What is the most important commercial river in the continent?
· Do you remember the name of any island in Europe?
· There is a hotel in Sweden. What is it made up of?
· What is the capital of Italy?
· Do you remember any famous site in Europe? Where are they?
After answering the questions, they will discuss the answers all together.
Web (25 minutes)
In pairs, Sts. will visit “Maps of World” website https://www.mapsofworld.com/list-of/european-countries/ and will make a list of the countries of Europe and their capitals on a piece of paper.
In pairs, with the same peer they have done the previous activity, they will complete a crossword about European capitals.
Individually, they will make a quiz about European capitals.

What’s next (10 minutes)
T. will divide the class into two groups to play a SpinTheWheel (offline) https://spinthewheel.app/all-europe-countries. Every group, in turns, has to answer about the capital of the country the wheel shows. The group with more right questions will win the game.
LESSON #2
Class: 6th form
Time allotted: 60 minutes
Communicative goal: identifying the flags of European countries.
Vocabulary focus:
Recycled language: names of the European countries.
Objective: Recognize and describe the flags of European countries.
Warm ( 20 minutes)
Sts. will do a brainstorming about why the flag is important for a country. The teacher will write on the board different answers the learners will say.
Then the teacher will present a video about the national flags’ origin. The video has been previously download to be used offline.
After watching the video, the students, led by the teacher, will discuss about why a flag is important for a country according to the video. Then they will check if the answers in the brainstorming coincide with the references given in the video.
Web (25 minutes)
Teacher will divide the group into pairs, the same pairs that they were divided in the previous lesson. They will visit the website https://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/euflags.htm and will include the flag next to the name of every country and its capital.
Continuing working in pairs, Sts. will visit Quizlet to play a game about European flags (cards) with their mobiles. If sts. don’t have mobiles the game will be played all together divided into two groups.

What’s next (15 minutes)
T. will divide the group into two teams and will play a game. T will have little sticks representing every European flag in a box. In turns, every team will have to say the name of the flag T will take out of the box and its capital. The team that says more correct answers will win.
