Using infrared spectroscopy in high magnetic fields at ambient and high pressures, we investigate the properties of a number of fascinating new materials.Â
Our research currently focuses on topological materials, which were discovered only a decade ago. Their conducting electrons' energy is linear in momentum, unlike any macroscopic object. Such materials show very simple yet unusual physics, reminiscent of relativistic effects.
We explore their low-energy degrees of freedom through a powerful combination of infrared experiments, high magnetic fields, and theoretical models.
