An-anaao Integrated School stakeholders condemned the senseless and intentional burning of the Bagong Lipunan Building on September 23, a week before the regional validation of the 2018 Brigada Eskwela Search for the Best Implementing School.
The Philippine National Police of the Municipality of Tayum confirmed that at about 2:57 AM of the said date, a cellphone call from Mrs. Fregelyn V. Turalba informing the Tayum MPS that a fire is on progress at An-anaao Integrated School. Duty personnel headed by SFO4 Gerardo T. Balaoro, immediately proceeded to the fire scene. Upon arrival, firefighting operation was conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Tayum Fire Station together with Tayum MPS and residents of Sitio An-anaao, Budac, Tayum, Abra. BFP declared fire out at about 3:45AM and the estimated damages of more or less Php. 1,200,000.00.
Based from the initial investigation of the BFP, the said incident was intentionally done by unidentified person. The motive of the said cruel act is still under investigation by SF3 Silvestre B. Siganay II, Fire Arson Investigator.
Different school facilities including important school documents and records of graduates were destroyed by the fire, said Mr. Eugenio P. Millare, the School Principal.
“The total value of all items damaged excluding the building itself is estimated to be around 1.2 million and the motive for the incident is unknown at this stage but BFP investigations continue,” Millare said.
AIS teachers, pupils and alumni condemned the attack on the school through social media and joined the school on its recovery procedure. The AIS family also prayed the holy rosary to ask Mother Mary’s intercession for the school to overcome crisis brought by the fire incident and for the enlightenment of the person responsible of the said cruel act.
