Serving with Much Love

When the Catholic School in Tiker, a nearby sitio, ran by the Holy Spirit Sisters, closed in 1936, the barangay people felt a need to open a barrio school to accommodate the children in one of the sitios of Budac, Tayum, Abra. An-anaao was chosen to be the seat of the new school because it was the geographical center of the barrio. Grade 1 was opened in 1937 with 30 pupils under Mr. Vicente Tadeo as the first teacher. The ages of the pupils were notable having 12 years old as the youngest and 18 as the oldest pupils. The class was temporarily seated at the ground floor of the Millare residence.

In 1938, Grade 2 was opened. The school was transferred to make shift but jointly created by the parents and the barangay officials on a vacant lot owned by Galicano Millare. He donated the said lot with an area of 3,208 sq. meters. A school building was built in 1939 to provide the pupils with more formal learning. Grades 3 and 4 were opened having been fused and handled by a teacher. During the outbreak of World War II, the school was closed in 1940 and was reopened after the liberation in 1946.

In 1947, Grade 5 was opened. Additional classrooms were built. The school became a complete elementary school in 1950 with 18 pupils as its first graduates. From then, increase of enrolment was very eminent. More children from nearby barangays came to study until 6 teachers held 6 classes. Additional ground was then given and school building was built. The lot was formally donated to the school in 1990.

Through the support and effort of SDO Abra and LGU of Tayum Officials, An-anaao Elementary School was officially converted to An-anaao Integrated School last April 10, 2017 with 42 learners as first students in grade 7. Mr. Janssen P. Millare and Miss Rhickcelle T. Alcantara are the pioneer teachers, and the school principal is Mr. Eugenio P. Millare.

The 3-room Bagong Lipunan building of An-anaao Integrated School was totally razed by fire on September 23, 2018 at about 2:00 o’clock in the morning. The said building was the oldest structure of the school in the year 2018. It was used as the Office of the School Principal, Guidance Office and Instructional Classroom for Grade 7.

In the School Year 2021-2022, An-anaao Integrated School opened its first Senior High School offering Academic Track: Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) with 28 enrolled students and Technical Vocational Livelihood: Information and Communication Technology (ICT)- Computer System Servicing NCII with 29 enrolled learners as first students of Grade 11.

The lighted torch in colors symbolizes quest for knowledge and the practice of values and skills inculcated to every AIS pupil. This also embodies learners with varied personalities, traits, skills, talents, diverse family and socio-cultural backgrounds and beliefs. Through the years, AIS is committed to educate and develop each unique learner and continuously glowing its light to the hearts and minds of children under her care towards the realization of their dreams. The torch further represents the ability of AIS to serve as a guiding light for children and for the ability of the school to serve as a beacon of light, eradicating ignorance.

THE LAUREL LEAVES

The laurel leaves are symbol of victory, achievements and honor. These also represent the quality education provided to learners and the value of commitment and dedication of teachers of An-anaao Integrated School.

THE SHIELD

The shield symbolizes the duties of the school in keeping schoolchildren safe from harm and abuse. An-anaao Integrated school has safe learning environment for all types of learners in the society. This further symbolizes that AIS is a caring, friendly and nurturing institution with passion to touch young’s lives and develop children to become mature citizens. The shield is divided into four compartments representing the core values of a Filipino learner, Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan at Makabansa.

THE OPEN BOOK

The open book is a symbol of the thirst for knowledge and the selfless sharing of information of both the teachers and the students in AIS. This also means that knowledge if freely and equally shared with all learners in the different grade levels. The open book also indicates the length of service of the school to children in providing quality education.

THE CIRCLES

The circles represent the continuous development and progress of school. Teaching and learning are never-ending processes. It is an endless dream for students’ welfare. The circles also symbolize inclusive education. The school brings all pupils together in one classroom, regardless of their strengths or weaknesses and seeks to maximize the potential of all learners by touching their lives.

THE MOUNTAINS

The mountains symbolize the school vision towards progress and the strong foundation provided by teachers to every AIS pupil. The school continuously improving itself to better serve its stakeholders towards the attainment of quality education. The mountains further signify the value of patience and determination inculcated to AIS learners in the realization of their dreams.

THE RICE FIELD

The rice field represents endurance of the school in proving education and touching the lives of every learner. This also symbolizes the mission of AIS family in caring for the environment.

THE CURVE LINES

The curve line enclosing the logo symbolizes strong connection with external stakeholders in the community. The school is striving to build a brighter future for all AISians through strong collaboration and bond with the community. The curves signify the stakeholders with varied stands in the society yet have common vision and shared responsibility in improving AIS towards positive changes and progress

THE RED AND YELLOW COLORS

The red shade shows the official color of the school which symbolizes energy to perform tasks, strength to fulfill mission, determination to succeed and passion to serve. The red color also means love and burning desire to learn. The school teaches children to love our country, our nature, our fellowmen and above all, our Almighty God. The yellow color manifests enlightenment, creativity, joy and honor.
