Nicolo Zaniolo has officially moved to Galatasaray from Roma after being publicly criticized by coach Jose Mourinho.

Zaniolo has signed Galatasaray for a transfer fee of 16.5 million euros plus a 13 million euro add-on clause. Zaniolo has signed a four-year contract with the Turkish side and has a release clause of 35 million euros.

Coach Jose Mourinho publicly revealed Zaniolo's intention to leave Roma in January, when the player was linked with Premier League sides Tottenham and Bournemouth.

The Portuguese has expressed anger saying that "unfortunately Zaniolo seems to be staying" ahead of the Napoli game. Mourinho also insists he is only interested in "players who really want to do well for this club".

The transfer window in Turkey has been extended until February 18 after a catastrophic earthquake in the country. Zaniolo's transfer is good for both parties, as coach Mourinho also considers removing this player from the first team if he continues to stay at the Olimpico Stadium.

Zaniolo could feature for Galatasaray in the next match against Gaziantep in the Super Lig. Meanwhile, Roma will continue to fight in Serie A with a match against Lecce this weekend.

Currently, Galatasaray is leading the Turkish national championship with a distance of up to 9 points compared to the chasing group. The opportunity for this team to be crowned this season and win tickets to the Champions League next season is very clear.
