Born in Seattle, Washington and raised in Walnut Creek, California, Amy grew up in the water, competing at a national level in synchronized swimming, competitive swimming, and water polo. She attended the University of California, San Diego where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Sociology, while also serving as Vice President of Public Relations for the National Society of Collegiate Scholars' San Diego chapter, gaining experience as an intern for a professional events company, and working in Washington, D.C. as a communications intern with a U.S. Government Commission.
She began her career in corporate communications at Kaiser Permanente where she ran the company's Thrive employee website, managed marketing communications for their Healthy Picks healthy eating program, and served as copy editor for their annual reports. From there, she joined a Philadelphia-based communications consulting firm, CRA, Inc. where she led communication strategy and execution for corporations including the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Rohm and Haas, State Farm, and McDonald's. She then moved back to California and joined the corporate communications team at The Clorox Company, where she led editorial planning and content development for the company's internal and external websites and partnered with senior leaders on strategic messaging and delivery of global town hall meetings. After seven years in the communications field, Amy desired a career change and moved into Brand Marketing at Clorox.
Over ten years at Clorox, she grew from an Associate Marketing Manager to a Senior Director of Brand Marketing and gained experiences spanning different businesses and functions, from the company’s largest business—Clorox Cleaning—to the smaller, entrepreneurial B2B division; from Corporate Communications to PR to traditional Brand Management; from individual contributor roles to leading large teams. At the end of her time at Clorox, she was leading cross-functional teams on business strategy in both the company's B2C and B2B divisions, managing through the complexities of COVID forecasting and supply planning, rebuilding growth strategies and innovation pipelines, and leading scaled marketing campaigns.
In January 2023, Amy left Clorox and stepped away from corporate leadership to pursue a more creative path, and is now a marketing consultant and freelance writer. As an independent consultant, Amy had the opportunity to partner and help grow both large and small brands--including Etsy, REEF, Hopdoddy, Albertsons, Mosaic Materials, and CloroxPro--by delivering winning brand strategy, engaging content, and breakthrough go-to-market execution.
She lives in the California Bay Area with her husband, two children, and two Golden Retrievers. When she is not cheering on the sidelines at her kids' sporting events, she enjoys playing water polo, hiking in the Mt. Diablo foothills, and traveling. She is a passionate mom, content creator, and relationship builder with an endless curiosity, a competitive edge, and a desire to help people and corporations tell their stories.
