January 21, 2020 - NWS Morristown, TN

The group convened for dinner at 5:30pm ET before beginning the meeting at 7:00pm ET at the NWS Morristown.

A total of 14 members were in attendance for the meeting.

The meeting began with Jeremy Buckles talking about the logistics of a combined AMS/NWA chapter. It was agreed to pursue this and begin the process of amending the chapter by-laws to reflect current operations and the merged chapter, if approved by the membership and the NWA.

Rick Garuckas presented on significant historical snowstorms to affect the Southern Appalachians analyzing the synoptic and mesoscale conditions that created the storms.

Allan Diegan and Jeremy Buckles presented on terrain influences on frontogenesis during the January 29, 2019 snow event with localized heavy snow rates across the foothills of the mountains.

The meeting adjourned around 9:00 PM ET.
