Permission Justification

This page explains why VibeCheck requests each permission and host access. The extension is designed to follow Chrome Web Store expectations to request the narrowest permissions needed for its current purpose: user-triggered creator comment triage on YouTube.

Requested Permissions

activeTab: lets the extension interact with the current YouTube tab after the user opens the popup and starts a scan.
storage: stores saved scans, reply preferences, the user-provided Groq API key, and local extension settings on the user's device.
scripting: injects or refreshes the content script on the active YouTube page when needed so user-triggered scans can read visible comments.
tabs: identifies the current active tab so the popup can confirm it is on a YouTube watch page and load saved scans for the matching video.

Host Permissions

https://www.youtube.com/*: required so VibeCheck can read visible YouTube comment content on watch pages after the user starts a scan.
https://api.groq.com/*: required so the extension can send user-requested comment analysis, summary, and reply-draft requests to Groq using the API key saved by the user.

What VibeCheck Does Not Request

No broad browsing history permission.
No downloads permission.
No cookies permission.
No OAuth permission.
No remote code execution permission.
No access to non-YouTube sites beyond the configured AI API host.

How This Aligns With Chrome Guidance

The permissions are limited to the extension's user-facing feature set.
The extension discloses how local storage and AI processing are used.
The extension analyzes comments only after a direct user action such as scanning, deep scanning, drafting a reply, or exporting selected saved data.
Mock mode lets users test the interface without sending comments to Groq.

VibeCheck is a YouTube comment triage extension that helps creators scan visible comments, organize saved scans, and generate AI-assisted summaries and reply drafts. By using the extension, you agree to use it only for lawful, authorized creator workflows.

Use of the Extension

Use VibeCheck only on YouTube pages you are authorized to access.
Review AI-generated output before acting on it or sharing it.
Do not enter API keys that you are not authorized to use.
Do not use the extension to mislead users, spam, or automate abuse.
Do not rely on VibeCheck as legal, compliance, or professional advice.

Data and AI Processing

Saved scans are stored locally in Chrome extension storage on your device.
Your Groq API key is stored locally in Chrome extension storage on your device.
Comment text that you choose to analyze is sent directly from your browser to Groq using the API key you provide.
The extension is designed for its single purpose: creator comment triage and response preparation.
Mock mode can be used to test the interface locally without sending comments to Groq.
You are responsible for the API key you provide, your Groq usage, and complying with Groq's terms.

Availability and Limits

The extension may change, fail, or stop working if YouTube, Chrome, or the AI provider changes behavior.
Deep scans can take longer and may only collect comments that YouTube renders in the browser.
Groq may rate-limit your account; VibeCheck may pause and resume automatically when limits reset.
AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your use case.
AMS SOFT TECH provides the extension on an as-is basis without any guarantee of uninterrupted service.
