The Virtual Factory Behind Every Material We Make
Most advanced materials are still made by trial and error. A new battery electrode or printed ceramic can take hundreds of costly experiments to get right, and small changes in a process can make a part crack, warp or fail. Physical testing alone is too slow and too expensive to scale up new materials.
Industrial digitalisation is central to the Advanced Manufacturing Sector Plan. Our models help UK manufacturers cut scrap, energy use and development time for batteries, fuel cells and lightweight structures.
Our approach: Simulate, Resolve, Learn, Optimise
Simulate. We build multiphysics models (CFD, DEM, and heat, mass and charge transport) that capture what happens inside a process as it runs.
Resolve. We zoom into porous structures such as fibre preforms, drying electrodes and fuel-cell layers, where flow decides final quality.
Learn. We train machine-learning surrogates on our simulations, so a question that took days to answer now takes seconds.
Optimise. We connect the models to real process data in digital twins that predict, monitor and adjust manufacturing as it happens.
