Goal: Clean Seas Florida Keys

Goal: Clean Seas Florida Keys

Since tropical storms, hurricanes, and recreational boating activities frequently threaten marine life and the fragile ecosystems of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, we want to do as much as we can to make a measurable, positive impact on the environment through our participation in the Sanctuary's Goal: Clean Seas Florida Keys program.

Our Conservation Work

Amoray Dive Center and the AMCT proudly partner with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation to successfully remove hundreds to thousands of pounds of marine debris from sanctuary waters off the upper keys each year.

Did you know? Unique from other FL Keys dive shops, the AMCT has professional marine biologists on staff who are trained and permitted to conduct successful marine debris removal operations with minimal disruption and impact to the underwater environment

To Date, the Amoray Dive Center and the AMCT have partnered with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation to successfully remove approximately:

-9 intact lobster traps,

-hundreds of pieces of lobster trap debris,

-5,690 feet of fishing line, monofilament, and rope,

-and over 4,962.50 pounds of marine debris across 16 removal dives.

In addition, our conservation efforts have included educating and inspiring 168 program participants to engage in marine debris removal, education, awareness, and prevention through our public outreach lectures and presentations.

In 2023, Amoray Dive Center was the Number 1 marine debris dive shop in all of the Upper Keys and 2nd overall by total weight of debris removed in the entire FL Keys National Marine Sanctuary!
