Respiratory Disease Diagnosis

respiratory Disease Diagnosis

Respiratory diseases like COPD, Tuberculosis, Asthma, bronchitis and upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) have acoustic traits that make it inherently possible to detect using sound samples. The disorders in the respiratory passage can contain acoustic signatures (such as, wheezing and crackling) during breathing, and labored coughing. Several studies have shown the presence of wheezing and crackling sounds to indicate severity of asthma and pulmonary fibrosis. Besides breathing, another mechanism of significance to the respiratory system is cough. A cough engages high velocity airflow to clear respiratory pathways (larynx, trachea, and large bronchi) of secretions such as mucus, and foreign particles
