Curriculum Vitae
Amir Hossein Poorjam was born in Esfahan, Iran, in 1986. He received his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium, in 2014. After graduation, Amir worked as an R&D manager in Parto Research and Development Group, in Iran, and as an Artificial Intelligence engineer at Sensifai Company, in Belgium.
In 2016, Amir joined the Audio Analysis Lab at Aalborg University, in Denmark, as a Ph.D. fellow to work on "speech pre-processing for Parkinson's disease diagnosis" under supervision of Professor Mads Græsbøll Christensen and Associate Professor Jesper Rindom Jensen.
Amir visited the Speech and Image Processing Unit at University of Eastern Finland, Finland, in 2015, where he was granted the CIMO scholarship; and visited the Mathematics group at Aston University, UK, in 2018.
In 2019, he joined Verisk Analytics as a speech data scientist, where his focus was on the development of speech-based application for risk assessment.
He joined FaunaPhotonics in 2023 as a lead data scientist working on the application of audio signal processing and AI to detect flying insects in noisy environments.
He has served as a peer-reviewer for the "IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing" and the journal of "IEEE Access"; and also as a technical program committee member and reviewer for several international conferences such as the IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP).
His research interests include, but are not limited to, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analysis, speech processing, and pathological voice analysis.
