Background Checks

If you are 18 or older, you need to be fingerprinted and background checked by SAU 39  after you have been cast. This is mandated by the state and PTA.  

We encourage everyone to begin the background check process before auditions. If you have not already done so background check packets will be available at auditions. We hope to have a police officer on site at auditions to assist with this process but if they are not able to make it, you will need to fill out the form and bring it to the Amherst Police Department, where you then can be fingerprinted. Once fingerprinted and notarized you will need to return the completed packet to the SAU office. The cost for a background check with the state is $21.75, this fee is not included in the production fee, but the production fee has been reduced this year due to the new added cost. Results take between 6 and 8 weeks which is why auditions are in October for rehearsals starting in January.  To make sure all background checks are received back in time, we are requiring all packets to be returned to the SAU office by close of business on Oct 27. Failure to meet this deadline will result in your part being recast. 

Anyone that has already been background checked through SAU 39 should be cleared but please email the HR Department to make sure that your check is up to date. The background check is good forever, unless the state law changes.
