"Dotty shows another side of the remarkable design variety found among surviving Bath & Body Works rubber ducks. Instead of relying on a single color or specialty finish, her pastel pink body is covered with bold tangerine-orange polka dots, with matching orange wings and beak. We don't yet know what Bath & Body Works originally called her when she was sold, or whether her pattern was associated with a particular season or promotion. Until those answers emerge, Dotty helps preserve something we can document: Bath & Body Works offered rubber ducks in an unusually diverse range of colors, finishes, and decorative treatments."

Every duck has a story...
"Dotty reminds me why looking matters closely. At first she's simply a very cheerful pink duck covered in orange polka dots. But to a curator, every one of those details becomes evidence. Her colors, pattern, markings, and construction can help us compare her with other surviving ducks and, perhaps someday, figure out where she belongs in the Bath & Body Works story. Research can start with something as simple as a polka dot."

"...and Dotty proves that sometimes the clues to a bigger story come covered in polka dots."
