'The first true captain of Hillsborough' has been found!
On the 125 Anniversary of Hillsborough help buy him a new headstone that does justice to the service he gave Sheffield Wednesday.
Langley lived out his latter years as a publican. He was a popular landlord of three Sheffield pubs.
At the time of his death he was the landlord of The Pheasant (Barry's Bar) on London Road.
Langley is buried under this spot in Burngreave Cemetry, Sheffield. Instating a new headstone would mean that a new memorial is accessible to Wednesday supporters.
His previous headstone was probably removed several decades ago due to it becoming a hazard.
Steve Roche
Steve Roche is a talented stonemason based in the heart of Sheffield. If our campaign is successful we plan to commission Steve to produce a beautiful headstone that will be careved from beautiful York stone.
Steve will bring a wealth of experience to the project, seeing that a lasting monument is created that is not just a memorial to a former club captain but also beautiful reference to a defining moment in Sheffield Wednesday's history.
Steve's workshop is located just around the corner from Ambrose's former pub 'The Pheasant' on London Road, currently called 'Barry's Bar'.
