Desert Wonders

Image Information

This is a design using the shape tool for an inspirational quote.

Design Elements

Contrast - in the dark background and the light coloring of the camel and text.

Alignment - The text is wrapped in alignment with the shape of the camel.

Proximity - Used to balance the shape of the camel on the left and the text on the right.

Photoshop

To create this image, I did the following...

  • Created the camel using the custom shape tool

  • Used an image of the desert to Paste Special into the camel shape

  • Transformed the image to fit well into the camel shape

  • Moved the desert image so the peak of the mountains align with the camels hump on its back

  • Used quick selection to select the background image

  • Used an image of a star lit sky to Paste Special into the background

  • Free transformed the image of the night sky to fit where I wanted it into the background

  • Used the ruler tool to pull out my margins

  • Used pen tool to trace around outline of camel

  • Inserted text into the space so that it flowed well with the outline of the camel

  • Changed font color to match the sky of the desert image

  • Chose font that went with design

Revision

I have lengthened the canvas to show more of the midnight sky. I also added black mountains behind the camel and the text using the pen tool, I then lightened the opacity so that it is not too bold.
