Within an hour of Cape Town are the charming towns, villages and estates of Winelands destinations, such as Stellenbosch and Franschoek. Stellenbosch is known as ground zero of the South African wine industry. The area is situated in a valley that is scattered with numerous unique wine farms that are surrounded by beautiful mountains. Hermanus is a seaside town southeast of Cape Town. It is a prime whale-watching location and also a base to organise shark-cage diving. A little bit futher and you can drive through the Garden Route with the most beautiful scenery down the coast and over mountain passes. The Garden Route is a 300 kilometre stretch of the south-western coast of South Africa which extends from Mossel Bay to the Storms River.
