Bridges are built to cover bodies of water, railroads, roadways, valleys, and frozen pass ways. The first bridges were built using whatever was handy and stones and trees were the only supplies available to primitive man. The oldest bridge built with a designed arch is the Arkadico Bridge designed and built in the 13th century, BC.
Located in Peloponnese, a peninsula in Southern Greece, this historic bridge is still in use today. It is, of course a simple stone bridge that is spanning a small dip in the terrain. There is also a small tunnel.
