Through this project, I have learned about the digital divide that exists in both Brazil and Jamaica. In both nations, the rural population lacks reliable access to the Internet. Through my research for this project, I have learned how dangerous this can be in the age of telemedicine. Rural communities that lack access to the Internet also lack access to telehealth services, which during times of health crises like COVID-19 is dangerous and costs lives.
Lessons Learned: This project has allowed me to explore global technology issues and how they impact communities. I worked together with my partner by collaborating over email and messages and adding information together to a shared Powerpoint file. This project has strengthened my collaboration skills on an online platform and has exposed me to new information regarding the role of technology around the globe.
