Project Description: The purpose of this assignment is to explore threats to computers and devices by researching different cybersecurity articles and displaying the information. Also, in conjunction with this project, I completed cyber training and earned a certificate.

This Washington school district became a target for a phishing scam. This scam was sent through email to students and staff members and it claimed to offer a "part-time job opportunity". This scam was to acquire sensitive information from recipients. Luckily, there are no known victims of the scam due to early intervention. To be protected from phishing scams, one must have awareness when online and be cautious when opening links/attachments from email.

In Rochester, NY, a popup has been sent to many computers portraying itself as a message from Microsoft about a computer virus. The message prompts people to call and give up personal information. This is another type of phishing attack and many people have been affected by this. To stay protected from incidents like this, one must be cautious of all popups that prompt the user to give up information.

By completing the module and assessments with complete accuracy, I earned my CSIT Cybersecurity certificate.
Lessons Learned: I have learned a lot about cybersecurity threats and how common they are. This assignment taught me about phishing and how there are different ways that scammers try to get users to give their own information away. I also used my knowledge of how to research news articles to complete this assignment.
