Reflection:
I am extremely grateful to have been given multiple opportunities to sing alongside insanely talented individuals on the main worship team at Salinas Valley Community Church (SVCC). I have officially been singing on the team from 10th grade onwards, and in my experience, I have learned how to sing harmonies, follow a music conductor, lead large groups of people in song, and perform in front of very large audiences (up to 400 people!) without being afraid. Being the youngest member to ever perform on the Main worship team has solidified my confidence, but most importantly, it has taught me how to collaborate humbly and successfully.
AWANA!
Learning Outcomes:
Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth; Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process; Show commitment to, and perseverance in, CAS experiences; Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
Reflection:
AWANA is an international Christian evangelical organization, and I have been a student leader with AWANA at SVCC from 7th grade onwards. I teach K-2nd graders Bible verses, Bible lessons, games, songs, crafts, and other various activities once a week. I have learned collaboration, organization, and leadership skills from this volunteer experience over my many years of service. Most importantly, I have learned to be patient with children no matter what, and I translate this to my everyday life by being understanding with everyone regardless of outside circumstances.

Reflection:
I decided to read children's books over Zoom for kids who couldn't have an in person reading experience with their teachers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I learned how to work with Zoom software, but more importantly, I learned that I could volunteering remotely was completely possible! This was part of the MAOS Gives Back initiative for our community, so I worked along with other MAOS classmates to create a playlist of these reading videos that can be accessed on Youtube.
Reflection:
My brother and I have been teachers for the Children's Program for Telugu Christian Fellowship Bay Area (TCF) for 3 years. We teach the kids songs and lead their performances with music and vocal accompaniments once a month (we perform on average 9 times a year) in front of the whole fellowship. I learned how to teach and collaborate with individuals that are younger than myself, and I learned how to step back when leading and allow the kids to be highlighted in vocal performances.

Reflection:
My mother directs the children's Christmas skits every year, and my brother and I provide her with assistance. This most recent year, she asked me to lead the skit from the stage as the "host" of the show. I learned how to present myself well and project my personality into the "host" character I was playing. More importantly, I learned how to improvise on the spot when working with others at a different acting level than my own (I have acted in plays since I was 7).

Reflection:
The COVID-19 pandemic isolated everybody, and so as part of the MAOS Gives Back initiative, I decided to write letters to 3 different groups in my local community: medical workers, essential grocery workers, and the elderly. I wrote from my heart and genuinely told them what I thought; working hard through something as difficult as this pandemic is so inspiring, and I would love to be a friend for anyone who needs one. Loneliness, negligence, and discouragement lead to poor mental health in people of all age groups. Giving out kind words is always a good idea :)
Letters to Essential Workers and the Elderly!

The letter to healthcare workers is located directly above this comment. The letter at the very top of the left is addressed to the elderly, and the one below it is for essential grocery workers.

The picture at the top right is from our first time playing as an official Youth Worship team in the main service at SVCC. The picture above this comment is from one of our "quarantine worship" sessions where 5 of us did worship safely to follow COVID-19 restrictions.
Reflection:
I have been playing piano, guitar, the cajon drum, and singing for many years on my own. However, joining the SVCC Youth Worship Team taught me how to work well with others to create songs together. For the past 4 years, we have been practicing for hours every week before performing on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings in our youth group, and we are truly a family of musicians. Even when we weren't allowed to meet in person, we decided to upload individual audio clips of instruments and vocals into a shared Google Drive and compiled them together to make complete audio tracks of songs for youth group worship over Zoom.
Outdoor Service Set up!
Learning Outcomes:
Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
Reflection:
SVCC held outdoor services in August 2020 when COVID-19 restrictions were relaxed, and my dad and I showed up early to help with the set up. We set up flags in each circle drawn 6ft apart from the next on the lawn, and we followed a map to make sure it was all in a certain order. We worked safely with other volunteers to make this possible, and the end result was completely worth it- finally, church in person!! To be a part of making others so happy to finally come to church by helping set up gave me so much joy, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process.
My dad and I after we finished setting up; in front of us is the outdoor stage on the lawn at SVCC.
