Lacrosse!

Reflection:
When I joined the lacrosse team in my sophomore year of high school, I had no experience or knowledge of the sport at all. After a lot of practicing, I earned my spot on the team alongside many amazing players who I now consider my sisters, and I found my perfect position- wing defense player. I quickly made friends with all the girls on the team, and together we worked to organize team bondings and discuss workout options with the captains. This last spring 2020, I also earned the Team Spirit Award.
HIIT Workouts!
Learning Outcomes:
Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth; Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process; Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience; Show commitment to, and perseverance in, CAS experiences.
Reflection:
During the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, I noticed that I was exercising less frequently at home. At first, I really disliked running cardio, so I decided to make HIIT workouts part of my weekly routine. Once a week (depending on if I run or not), I pick a quick 10 minute HIIT workout on Youtube and follow along! It helps me increase my stamina and endurance, and I love how I can do them in one spot.
Hiking!
Learning Outcomes:
Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process; Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience; Show commitment to, and perseverance in, CAS experiences.
Reflection:
I love outdoor hiking! Most recently, my family and I drove to Fremont Peak State Park to hike for a few hours. We climbed all the way to the top of the peak, and to get there, we even had to rock climb! We all took a risk to take the long way down from the peak, and while it was difficult, it was totally worth it. The views were amazing! We hike at Toro Park and Fort Ord often as well; every time we go, I have so much fun that I forget to take pictures!

Weights!
Learning Outcomes:
Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth; Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process; Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience; Show commitment to, and perseverance in, CAS experiences.
Reflection:
Weights is my favorite way to work out. I first discovered my passion for it freshman year of high school when I joined the wrestling team at Monterey High and got in the best shape of my life. I have been devoting half an hour to do weight training at least two days a week, and on especially stressful days, I try to do a little bit to take my mind off of my work. Weights requires me to physically build up resistance every time I work out, and when I do so, I improve at every session. I have set a physical goal for myself, and with full commitment, I believe that I can reach it soon!
Outdoor Runs!
Learning Outcomes:
Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth; Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process; Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience; Show commitment to, and perseverance in, CAS experiences.
Reflection:
As previously mentioned, I strongly disliked running when I first started working out. When I went out for a run a few months later, I realized that if I pushed myself and told myself that I could keep going, I kept going further and faster. Running helps me learn my limits, but also teaches me how to keep a steady pace. My mile time at the beginning of my running journey was 13 minutes, but after a month of running regularly, it went down to 12 minutes! I am super happy with the progress I'm making in running, and I plan to keep it up for as long as I can.
