Representative committee serves as the student voice for band council. It settles the differences of those not in the marching program so everyone gets announcements. Each class will have a couple of representatives in order to spread announcements and gather input. A lot of effort goes into these committees as well, thus an interview will be held the first few weeks of school.
There has historically been only one representative for each of our six class periods, but it is to be decided whether we end up increasing the number of reps in each class, just to ensure that no one forgets to announce anything and everyone gets the same information. The director of communications is also responsible for ensuring that the right information goes out to each concert band class, so the director of communications plays a large role in aiding the class representatives.
As a representative, your committee lead will be provided with information. They will then send you an email (or however you all decide you want to communicate) containing the information you need to give to the class. Your role is to let Mr. Grantham or Mr. Fell know that you have to make an announcement, then stand up and present that information in a clear but spirited manner.
