Hello! My name is Alyssa. I'm a sophomore at the University of Central Florida pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Medical Anthropology. I chose to major in Biomedical Sciences in order to gain a clearer understanding of the physiological processes that contribute to disease and illness. I'm also fascinated by how various treatments within medicine can help restore the body back to health and hope to be part of this healing process as a future physician. The Medical Anthropology minor complements these interests by allowing for the consideration of the ways in which social determinants intersect with and influence patient health outcomes. I hope to use this knowledge to further connect with my patients and help them manage their wellbeing in ways that are meaningful to them.
Outside of academics and extracurriculars, you can most likely find me playing the piano or spending time with family/friends.
