Unit Plan Congruent Triangles - A unit plan designed to meet the instruction needs of many different students. This unit plan contains three lesson plans with student centered activities, as well as, teacher centered activities. The teacher centered activities bring the students together as a group at the end of each day to check for understanding. The triangle bingo at the end of the unit is a teacher centered activity but is also a fun engaging way to check for understanding before a summative assessment. The other twenty activities included meet the multiple intelligences and creativity levels of every student and are student centered. The activities included allow for the variety of technology and non-technology access that different educational environments may have. Students activities are assessed through a formal and informal to gain insight into their understanding of the content. Formal assessments are through homework, making their own problems, and completing graphic organizers. Students will be informally assessed by their group work as I facilitate and ask questions. Students are also summatively assessed through a review game, quizzes, and tests. This allows for an array of data to check for student's understanding and to monitor their performance. A large part of math is building on previous knowledge. So it is important for a student not be left behind or confused when a unit is over. This unit plan allows for plenty of assessment opportunities to track a students growth and achievement before they fall behind. I believe this unit plan displays my value as future mathematics teacher. It shows how a mix of student centered learning through strong teacher facilitation and little down time makes for an interesting and engaging unit plan.
