Pre-Arrival: I expect.... my table to be ready for me before I arrive prior to making a reservation.

Arrival: I expect.....  my waiter to be ready to serve me and to anticipate what I need while waiting for my meal.

Occupancy: I expect.....  my food to come out hot and cooked well. If I were to order steak, I would expect my steak to be cooked to my liking and not raw or uneatable.

Departure: I expect....  my waiter to let me take my time to pay the bill and not make me feel rushed to get up and go.

Chapter 2 The Financial and Behavioral Impact of Customer 04/18/23

Behaviors have a financial impact in customer service because it helps you focus on the needs of customers. It also helps you decide what your guests need or what your industry needs. It helps you predict and know what the guests want to be done and what they need to be done for them. It helps bring in more customers and loyal customers too.  Effort is needed the most because you should like what you're doing for a living and not make it seem as if you're forced to do the work.

Andrew Dunn did a good job with providing good customer service because he put his guests first. He didn't care weather something was expensive or hard to get, he made sure he got it anyways. He hires employees that aren't only working for money and he makes sure that they are genuine and very caring. He's able to bring back most of his customers and also bring in more through word of mouth or through good service.

3/23/23 Summary of The Lopesan Group case study

-From this case study, I learned that Guam needs to hurry up and catch up to what the Lopesan group has been doing. I've learned that they want their guests to have a memorable experience and that they will try their best to resolve any problem that their guests have. I've also learned that while a guest is checking in or waiting to be checked in, they will offer a drink while waiting.

-Some best practices we can adopt is complementary drinks while guests are waiting in line. Also a mindset where everything has to be done right so the guests are satisfied enough to be able to come again. Also that there is no second chance for a first impression.

-I would say it would be difficult because sometimes changing your ways and the way you get your work done is hard. It takes time and patience to accomplish something big. Training would help get the employees ready to gain a new way to work, but maybe it won't be enough.

-Completed in 1994 in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary commemoration of the Liberation of Guam, Asan Bay Overlook serves as a memorial to those that lost their lives or suffered atrocities during the war. The Asan Bay Overlook Memorial Wall contains the names of 1,880 U.S. servicemen who died in the 1941 defense of Guam against the attacking Japanese armed forces and those who died retaking the island from Japan in 1944 along with the names of the 1,170 people of Guam who died and 14,721 who suffered atrocities of war from 1941-1944.

-The Adelup Governor's Complex is the site of several government offices, including the village mayor's council and the Governor's and Lt. Governor's offices. It is named in honor of the late Ricardo J. Bordallo a former Governor of Guam and public servant. Located at the back of the complex is a museum and a wonderful ocean view. There are also pavilions for public use and monuments surrounding the facility. Adelup Point was the eastern edge of the Asan Invasion Beach used by U.S. forces as the northern invasion beach on July 21, 1944, that began the Liberation of Guam. The site of fierce fighting, the promontory was captured by the end of the invasion day.

-The fort was built during the administration of Governor Manuel Muro (1794 – 1802). Construction of the fort was spurred by orders from Spain for all governors to reinforce the defensive capabilities of the empire against Britain. The fort was completed in 1800 and is named in honor of Muro’s wife, María Agueda del Camino. The fort was equipped with embrasures for ten small cannons, which were faced toward the Hagåtña Bay channel. Muro selected Apugan Hill as a fortification site to protect the low lying Governor’s Palace and Fort San Rafael, which were prone to hillside assaults. Spanish governors were concerned with the possibility of English privateers pillaging the colony or capturing vessels involved with the lucrative galleon trade.

-The Plaza de España located in central Hagåtña, the capital of the United States territory of Guam, was the location of the Governors Palace during the island's long period of Spanish occupation. Most of the palace was destroyed during the shelling of Hagåtña during the reconquest of Guam in World War II. Through out history, the plaza de espana has been the seat of respected rulers of the south sea island of Guam. The current govenors are still sworn in here today.

-Two Lovers Point, also known as Puntan Dos Amantes, is a historic cliff line site that overlooks the Philippine Sea, located on the unincorporated and organized territory of the United States, the Territory of Guam. When Spain ruler Guam in the past, there was a proud family that was living in Hagåtña, the capital city, where the father was a wealthy Spanish aristocrat, and the mother was the daughter of a great Chamorro chief. They arranged a marriage for her daughter to a powerful Spanish captain, however, when the girl discovered this, she was so distraught that she ran from Hagåtña all the way to the north of Guam until she found a secluded and peaceful shore. There she met with a young warrior from a modest Chamorro family, but when the girl’s father learned that they are in love, and meeting at a certain place, he demanded for her to marry the Spanish captain. As the cliffs rise up to 112 meters (368 feet) above the sea, the Two Lovers Point offers views of both, the eastern and western sides of the island. A simple, but great story that shows how two people can fall in love and won’t allow someone else to ruin their love.

-This war memorial, created through donations of the Japanese people, commemorates those people killed in World War II.On August 10, 1944, patrols from the Seventy-seventh Infantry Division approached Mataguac and drew heavy fire from the Japanese. A full-scale battle ensued. Obata knew the end was near and radioed his last messages to Japan, "I will engage the enemy in the last battle with the remaining strength at Mount Mataguac tomorrow, the 11th."  Next morning a battalion of U.S. infantrymen, supported by tanks, assaulted the hill. Then, behind a shower of grenades, they descended into the depression where they sealed the caves with explosives. Sometime that morning General Obata took his own life. The bathe for Guam was over.Four days later, demolition men reopened the caves and found more than 60 bodies within. The U.S. Army described the caves as having four-foot thick concrete walls; they were large and elaborately constructed; and they contained a large transmitter. It is not known if the caves were resealed or collapsed later.

My First Trip 2/21/23

Honolulu, Hawaii

Foreigners created the village of Honolulu beside the tiny harbor of Kou in the first half of the 19th century. Honolulu is Hawaii's state capital. It is well known for their beaches and amazing views. Honolulu was founded in 1850.  A modern city, it extends about 10 miles. Early Hawaiians worshiped spiritual belifes and gods. Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and is also known for Waikiki Beach. Honolulu also stands for "protected bay." I chose this destination because it's nice to see their beautiful views and meet their welcoming people.

Flying from Guam to Hawaii, all you would need is an acceptable ID such as your passport or your driver's license.

I chose Hotel the Modern Honolulu, price per night would be USD $169. I would stay in this hotel because it is around the city area where lots of shopping places are and sites to see are around the area as well.

Food and Beverage

I would want to try poi which is a taro root similar to sweeet potato. The taro is baked or steamed then pounded. You can eat it with meat or salmon. Pipi kalua is hawaiian beef jerky. It's a flank steak that is typically dried out and eaten by itself.

Recreation and Amusement

While in Hawaii, I would go to Akaka Fall state park. Just seeing pictures of the place make it look so beautiful. It is a hiking adventure with a beautiful view at the end that makes it worth it.

Chapter 2 Application 10/07/22

Being able to apply good communication skills when talking simply just means to expand your vocabulary. Having manners and using kind words when talking to peers or adults are necessary because it makes them view you as a good speaker and kind person. Good communication helps you build trust between loyal customers and helps you to understand them when facing a critical moment. It also builds a better stamina for the business and the business will most likely bring in more profit and more customers.

Attitudes, appearances, and actions are important because they affect the guests. When you're rude or disrespectful towards someone they will obviously treat you the way you're treating them. Appearances have a major impact on guests because when you look nice you make a good impression towards them. When you dress nice and neat, that just goes to show that you care about what others think of you and that you respect their point of view of how they see you.

Personal summary statement 10/11/22

I am passionate about helping others and tending to their needs. I am respectful and showcase a welcoming personality.  I am dependable and a fast learner. I am easy to approach and even easier to talk to. Getting my work done on time is always my top priority and I do it to the best of my ability.
