My first internship that I am grateful for, was at Dyson in 2022. This was during covid, and was essentially my first corporate career. As a retail marketing intern, it was my job to aid in the promotion of Dyson products (vacuums, hair-styling tools) through various channels of distribution in order to drive sales.
One of my assigned tasks, were to reach out to all malls in North America that Dyson Demo Stores are located in, and request the mall to display this copy on their social media page. Whether it's Facebook, or Instagram.
I was also in charge with creating a Mall Marketing Playbook. The Mall Marketing Playbook, shows exactly where and who to contact to display an advertisement within that mall location. From Billboards, to digital portraits, static opportunities, etc. The goal was to find opportunities within that location.
An additional task was to create a slidedeck & map out the layout of all Dyson Demo Stores in North America. The amount of plinths, how were products displayed on those plinths, and how many screens were in that location. This makes it easier when planning a new campaign, since the screens are updated quite frequently.
Another part of the Internship program, is finding a way to help the community. We were able to learn more about The Boys & Girls Club of Chicago, as well as help pack over 120 backpacks for children in the upcoming school year.
