The PTA is a registered tax-exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It reports annually to the California State taxation board and the IRS. Due to this distinction, the PTA relies heavily on sponsorships, donations, and volunteers because of the limitations in how much can be fundraised.

Join the PTA Association via Totem Membership
With your paid membership you get the benefits of being a PTA member. The perks change each year so click the link to see the latest membership benefits. Memberships are annual from July 1st to June 30th (school year). At the school level, your PTA membership gives you the right to vote at association meetings, vote for the executive board at the annual meeting, and to run for executive board positions and lead committee positions.

All our events and fundraisers are successful with the help of our community and our Altamont Panther Families. Without our volunteers, our programs cannot run. It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to get our annual events from the planning stage to the event date. In addition to the events, our school also relies on volunteers for events like Picture Day, Picture Retake Day, Hearing Testing and Vision Testing. We help provide reliable volunteers for our school administration.

To become a volunteer at Altamont, you need to be district cleared. There are two levels of clearance in which you can obtain:
Level A - Help in office, library, classroom, or field trip with constant presence of district staff.
Level B - Event chaperone, field trips, help on playground, in lunch areas and parking lots.
You will need to have "A" clearance (TB test) from the school district to proceed with the live scan for "B" clearance (fingerprinting).
**This process takes time, please fill out the form ASAP if you wish to become a volunteer.**

Monetary donations are always appreciated. The money will be put into the general fund. The general fund supports various activities hosted by the PTA throughout the school year.
If you'd prefer to give cash or check donations, there is a locked drop box in the PTA corner of the front office near the door.

Why Can't I Use Venmo, Cash App, or Apple Pay?
Here are the top five reasons why:
Those apps don't allow nonprofit usage.
They don't provide tax receipts for the IRS.
The accounts are connected to one individual, not a group.
They have weekly spending limits and withdrawals.
Tracking and reporting payments are difficult and lengthy.

Box Tops for Education
Now you can simply scan your store receipt with the Box Tops mobile app to identify participating products and instantly add cash to your school's earnings online.
Simply download the Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then use the app to scan your store receipt within 14 days of purchase. The app will identify Box Tops products on your receipt and automatically credit your school's earnings online.
Twice a year, Altamont PTA will receive a check to be used for whatever it needs.
