Each competitor is limited to ONE event.
Health Science Events – Test members’ knowledge of topics like medical terminology, anatomy, and diseases through written exams.
Examples: Medical Terminology, Human Growth and Development, Pathophysiology.
Health Professions Events – Focus on hands-on clinical skills used in real healthcare careers, combining written and skill-based components.
Examples: Clinical Nursing, Medical Assisting, Sports Medicine.
Leadership Events – Highlight communication, professionalism, and leadership through speeches, writing, or interviews.
Examples: Prepared Speaking, Job Seeking Skills, Healthy Lifestyle.
Teamwork Events – Team-based challenges that emphasize collaboration and problem-solving in healthcare settings.
Examples: HOSA Bowl, Biomedical Debate, Public Service Announcement.
Emergency Preparedness Events – Develop quick thinking and response skills for medical and disaster emergencies.
Examples: CPR/First Aid, EMT, Epidemiology.
Recognition Events – Celebrate service, leadership, and dedication to HOSA’s mission rather than direct competition. (This can be done WITH another event)
Examples: Barbara James Service Award, National Service Project, Outstanding HOSA Chapter
