2017-18 TOPIC: Preventing Teen Dating Violence
Dating abuse is reaching epidemic proportions in our society. According to breakingthecycle.org, one in three high school students have experienced physical or sexual violence or both by someone they are going out with. Loveisrespect.org reports that only 33% of those in a violent relationship ever told anyone about the abuse. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that being the victim of dating violence can have a negative impact on health throughout life with an increase in depression, anxiety and unhealthy behaviors.
