Data analyst with 5 years of experience in academic biomedical research, who will maximize the value of your company’s data using a hypothesis-driven approach and creative intuition. My favorite phases of research have always been data analysis and reporting conclusions. For this reason, I am enthusiastically seeking a career shift into the health analytics industry, where I can apply my proficiency in spreadsheets, R, SQL, and Tableau.
I started in the biomedical research field as an undergraduate at California State University, Long Beach where I earned a position as a MARC*U*STAR scholar. With the program's support, I gained valuable experience such as conducting hypothesis-driven research, presentation experience at national conferences, and engaging in graduate school preparation workshops. Through it all, I learned that data analysis and presentations were the most fun and my strongest skillset. However, I was under the impression the only way to make a career out of it was by pursuing a PhD. So I applied to Neuroscience PhD programs and matriculated into the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Go Blue!
I love neuroscience and the supportive mentors and staff at the NGP, but I felt disconnected from why I loved research in the first place. On top of it, I felt incredibly home-sick. I grew up in Long Beach, CA which has stark contrasts to Ann Arbor, MI. I decided to prioritize myself. I determined that I needed to focus on what attracted me to my research career in the first place: data. With this in mind, I decided to graduate from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a master's degree in Neuroscience to pursue full-time data analytics. Now, I am building this portfolio to demonstrate my capabilities as a data analyst! Please enjoy!
