Lite Deck is made of aluminium making it lighter then steel deck and tends to be used for semi permanent stages.
When I first started using litedeck I found it challenging to adjust to carrying the weight of them, however through experience I would now consider myself rather confident in working with decking.
My first time using decking for a show was during the production of Breaking The Code - this was due to the installation of a traverse stage that the show required. This show is also the reason I learnt how to make deck plans so early on; my role as DSM meant I was in charge of the planning of pretty much everything (in partnership with the other DSM)
Borders, Legs, and Drapes are all forms of cloth/fabric used to help shape and break up a theatre space. They also tend to be made out of light absorbing materials.
Borders are short drapes that are the width of the stage they are hung over. They are used to hide equipment and scenery that is stored above the stage. Borders placed close to lighting equipment are usually reinforced with heat, and fire resistant materials.
Drapes are large pieces of cloth or fabric used to block areas of stage from audiences view.
A Cyc (Cyclorama) is a large piece of fabric, typically white or naturally coloured but can now be found in greys and light blues, at the back of the stage. It can be projected onto as well as lit up (using lights such as Cyc Batons) to create different setting and times.
Legs are narrow curtains used to mask backstage, often hung at the same height as the rig and stretch to floor level.
