Alyse Dent

High School Section Chair

Alyse Dent is an English I Advanced and Honors teacher at John Horn High School in Mesquite ISD. She is excited and honored to serve as the high school section chair. Over the past twelve years, Alyse has taught English I–IV at both on-level and Pre-AP, as well as AP Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, Debate, and African American Literature, a course she developed during her decade-long tenure at DeSoto High School in DeSoto ISD.

Alyse is deeply committed to serving those around her and empowering students to recognize and cultivate their potential. In the past two years, she has had the opportunity to lead her English I PLC as team lead and to present on student discourse, essay writing, and strategies for sustaining student engagement during district professional development. Through her involvement with TCTELA, Alyse hopes to support the growth of fellow educators while also connecting with colleagues who will continue to inspire and challenge her in her own professional journey.
