Alyse Dent

High School Section Chair

Alyse Dent is an English II teacher at Waxahachie High School in Waxahachie ISD. She has a M.Ed in Teacher Leadership from Lamar University. She is excited and honored to serve as the high school section chair. Over the past twelve years, Alyse has taught English I–IV at both on-level and Pre-AP, as well as AP Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, Debate, and African American Literature, a course she developed during her decade-long tenure at DeSoto High School in DeSoto ISD.

Alyse is deeply committed to serving those around her and empowering students to recognize and cultivate their potential. Throughout her 13-year career as an English Language Arts educator, she has served in leadership roles, facilitated professional learning, and presented on topics including student discourse, essay writing, and strategies for fostering meaningful student engagement. She is passionate about collaborating with educators to strengthen literacy instruction and create classrooms where every student can thrive. Through her involvement with TCTELA, Alyse hopes to support the growth of fellow educators while continuing to learn alongside colleagues who inspire, challenge, and advance the profession.
