Lucinda Zamora-Wiley
High School Section Chair
Lucinda will be celebrating her 26th year of teaching secondary English and is delighted to call herself a passionate lifelong learner. She typically averages over 100 CPEs per school year and actively seeks to share what she learns with colleagues and students. In this way, it is one of her greatest joys to be of service, and it is with great joy that she is part of TCTELA's mission to offer inspiring personal and professional growth opportunities to high school teachers all across Texas. Currently, Lucinda is teaching at Harlingen High School (HHS) in Harlingen CISD of the Rio Grande Valley. Her current teaching responsibilities include: Dual Enrollment 1301/ 1302 and Dual Enrollment British Literature. After 25 luminous years in the classroom, she has no plans to slow down. She was named Teacher of the Year at HHS in 2025. Lucinda has also been a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) since 2009.
Lucinda is a passionate published poet and has earned a Pushcart Prize nomination for her work. She has been blessed to be a student of the maestros, Billy Collins (former US Poet Laureate) and Pulitzer Prize winner, Sharon Olds. She facilitates an active creative writing circle at HHS, which publishes student and faculty work.
She is so GRATEFUL to teachers who choose to do this GOOD WORK every day, and she sends her love and support to all teachers across Texas, this nation, and beyond! <3
