Zainab Jabak

High School Section Chair

Zainab is a Lebanese American, who brings years of varied school experiences from the U.S. and abroad. Serving as TCTELA’s HS section chair, Zainab enjoys collaborating with other educators from across the state, and now the country. Zainab, or as her students call her Ms. Jabak, currently teaches at Alief Taylor High School in Houston, Texas. 

Currently, she is embarking on her fourth year of teaching, teaching sophomores to foster a love for reading while juggling state standards, Ms. Jabak creates a meaningful balance for students to reap the benefits of reading for pleasure. She has recently acquired a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston. She also serves on Alief ISD’s Education Improvement Council (EIC), and is the founder of her high school’s Project LIT Chapter, where she ensures ALL students are provided with culturally relevant texts.
