Elementary Section Chair
Ángeles Muñoz is a lecturer at the University of North Texas and a doctoral student at Texas Woman's University. She is humbled to serve as the Elementary Section Chair. With over 16 years of experience in K–5 bilingual and dual-language classrooms, Ángeles has worked in one-way and two-way programs, always focusing on the needs of emergent bilinguals and their families.
She has also served as an International Baccalaureate Coordinator, where she implemented culturally responsive practices to support multilingual learners. Her classroom experiences inform her research on critical biliteracy and holistic assessment practices that honor students' linguistic repertoires and home language experiences that build on their academic strengths.
Whether teaching and mentoring pre-service teachers, conducting research, attending conferences, or presenting, Ángeles is passionate about creating inclusive, asset-based spaces where all students can thrive. She continues to advocate for holistic educational practices that elevate the voices and experiences of linguistically diverse learners.
