 This is a surrealist self-portrait with colored pencils made to represent different aspects of my personality that can not help but spill out. It represents the ambiguity of the information we take in and subsequently regurgitate. The version of myself with an hourglass attached to my head represents my anxiety regarding time. The rainbow version of myself represents my hypochondria by referencing the classic children’s book “A Bad Day of Stripes.” The outline of the heads emanating from the mouth demonstrates the fluidity of a liquid and how it can be constrained along a surface. Interestingly, this piece can be mounted horizontally or vertically, although my intended orientation is as above. This piece was chosen for a town-wide student artwork show at my public library and was also displayed at Town Day, where kids were asked how many faces they saw.

 Yet another self-portrait (I seem to be the most cooperative subject I know). I usually do not work in this large of a format for stippling, but I decided to be ambitious for this work-in-progress. I portrayed myself in black and white and the animals in color to show the contrast between the seriousness of my mood and the playfulness of the stuffed animals.

 This piece is based on the artist José Guadalupe Posada’s style. Posada was a Mexican political lithographer. This piece is my attempt at working with his style to create a unique composition. When viewers see this piece, I want their senses to be activated. They should feel the sensation of something up their nose, feel a bad taste in their mouth, and feel repulsed.

 This is an original composition created using a variety of source material. In my role as graphic designer for the school newspaper, I was asked to do something for MLK Day. I wanted to do something special that I felt honored Martin Luther King Jr. This piece is entirely stippled with a pen.
