I am a development economist by training and have been involved in the development sector in various capacities. At present I am the Director for Centre for Field Learning, India, pursuing my passion in life - studying development and encouraging people to go to the field; to learn from the common folks. I have served before as a Dean in Bennett University and Amity University but my passion remained teaching. I have taught economics and development to the students in DAIICT, TISS and Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy, using the story telling method. I have received much love from my students from each of these places. I will be forever grateful to them to enrich my life and make me beautiful from within. They have learnt to be compassionate to the underpriviledged from me and I have learnt to love every student unconditionally from them.
I founded Centre for Field Learning because I have a heart of a social worker and hence have a strong connect with the field. I feel that we learn the most by listening to the common people. At our Centre, we showcase only those research works that involve learnings from the field.
My main areas of research are agriculture and rural development; food and water security; development strategies and policy analysis; and disaster management. If you even want to do some research at the field level, do get in touch with me! We would make it an enriching experience for all of us.
