Studio 10 with Jesse Baird
and Alive n Kicking
Jesse is meeting the over-70s team representing Australia at the World Cup in Thailand at the end of October / beginning of November 2023.
He talks to the Alive n Kicking team representative Keith Pierce discussing the reason that masters football was started. In the background we can see Ernie Campbell, ex-socceroo who played in the 1974 World Cup with Johnny Warren, nutmeg the defender before placing the ball into the net. Keith expands on the Thailand World Masters Cup at which both an over 70s and over 75s team will represent Australia.
Geoff Sirmai then tries a spot of coaching on Jesse … fast feet and chest control.

and OASIS
Jesse interviews a variety of players including Gerrie, one of the original members of the Alive n Kicking group, who reminded us someone once said “You don’t stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing.” Keith then tells of his masters football connection with the (Baulkham) Hillsbillies, and how he subsequently set up the OASIS group ( (Older And Still Into Soccer) that now has 20 different groups of over 60s players, none of whom are recognised by any of the soccer authorities. “There’s a lot of old guys out there that still want to play football so why don't we help them play,” suggested Keith.
Jorge then performs some foot juggling. He was slightly better than Jesse 😂.
