Teaching

Population Health Scholars Track | Georgetown University School of Medicine

Research Director

This track offers 10 students the opportunity to engage in 4 years of population health education and research with 3 core faculty members. As the research director, I provide didactic education on research question development, methodology, statistical analysis interpretation and data management, as well as technical writing, publication, and presentations. The students receive personalized feedback from me on their independent research projects including development of abstracts and poster presentations. I assist other physicians and student mentors across Georgetown and in the Washington DC metro area to ensure students are adapting to the research environment and thriving in their chosen projects.

Residents Education |Fairfax Family Medicine Residency

As clinical faculty, I precept residents in the clinical setting, act as hospital attending 5-6 weeks a year at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital and Inova Fairfax Hospital and teach residents during didactic sessions throughout the academic year.

Medical Student Education | Virginia Commonwealth University

Medical Students in the M3 rotate through Fairfax Family Practice and work 1:1 with attendings and residents to improve their clinical exam skills, differential diagnoses, and plans of care. I work with 8-10 students over the course of the year, ranging from 1-6 sessions each. Medical Students in their M4 year also complete more intensive 1:1 sessions with the clinic acting on the inpatient service and in clinic.

Summer Research | VCU School of Medicine

During the summer months, between 8-20 students are selected to complete funded research in the Department of Family Medicine and Pediatrics. These students work 1:1 with mentors including Liz Wolf, Alex Krist, Bergen Nelson, Marshall Brooks, and Becca Etz and me to join on active research projects and define their own summer research question or assist in the development of project metrics. Students working with me are asked to complete an abstract and present at their choice of conference; I provide academic detailing along their path. Additionally, I provide didactic education for the students during their summer months to ensure that each student receives formal education on research methods.
