I am an active member of NAPCRG, sit on the Board, and present my ongoing research and developing new ideas with a great group of colleagues!
As a Board Member of the VAFP, I aim to improve the state of family medicine in Virginia, providing quality access to all Virginians, and offering assistance to FP's where possible.
One of conferences and groups I look forward to the most - STFM brings together teachers across the nation to share stories and teaching pearls. I have joined forces with UVA and GU to present on multiple topics in prior years including career advancement and care for "Very Important Patients".
In 2019, I received the Starfield Distinguished Trainee Award for my research with the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) on cervical cancer screening at Community Health Centers- a mixed methods analysis of brightspots and barriers to care.
In 2020-2021 I was chosen as one of the first two Family Physicians to participate in the ABMS Visiting Scholars program with my fellow FP Joel Willis. During this program, we will work with cross-discipline early career researchers to advance the knowledge of board certification and education. Additionally, scholars participate in a longitudinal series of lectures with exposure to quality, professionalism, and the inter-professional workforce.
In 2018, I was selected as the Brodie Clinician at UVA for acting as an artful, compassionate, and patient-centered physician with excellence in clinical knowledge, skill, and responsibility.
"Alison is the embodiment of empathy and takes incredible ownership of her patients. She takes professionalism very seriously and is always working to better herself."
