Privacy Policy for Align Vision Journal
Effective date: October 1, 2026
Align Vision Journal is designed to keep your observations under your control. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information.
Information stored on your device
Align Vision Journal stores app settings and saved visual-alignment observations locally on your device. Saved observations may include:
Date and time
Viewing position
Horizontal and vertical adjustments
Rotational adjustments
Calculated angle and prism-diopter values
Viewing geometry
Display-pattern settings
Color-calibration settings
Align Vision Journal does not require a user account. The current version does not contain advertising, third-party analytics, crash-reporting services, or a developer-operated server. The developer does not receive your saved observations or app settings.
TrueDepth camera and face data
On supported iPads, optional Automatic Mode uses Apple's ARKit face-tracking technology and the front TrueDepth camera after the user grants camera permission. ARKit temporarily provides the app with a face anchor and the three-dimensional positions of the left and right eyes relative to the camera. Align Vision Journal uses those positions only to calculate a numeric estimate of the distance between the user's eyes and the display. This distance establishes the viewing geometry used to calculate the angular values in a saved observation.
All face tracking is processed on the device in real time. Align Vision Journal does not use or retain camera images, video, depth maps, face meshes or geometry, blend shapes, facial expressions, face identity, or biometric identifiers or templates. Temporary face anchors, transforms, and eye positions are not written to storage and are discarded as the ARKit session updates or ends.
If the user saves an observation while Automatic Mode is active, the derived numeric viewing-distance estimate may be stored on the device as part of that observation's viewing geometry. The number is not used to identify the user and cannot reconstruct the user's face. It remains locally stored until the user deletes that observation, clears saved results, or removes the app, subject to the operation of the device and its backups.
Align Vision Journal does not transmit TrueDepth or face data to the developer, a server, or any third party. It does not share, sell, disclose, or use face data for advertising, marketing, analytics, profiling, authentication, or model training. If the user deliberately exports or shares an observation report, that report may include the numeric viewing distance, but it does not include face data. The user chooses the destination through Apple's system sharing or printing tools, and the destination's privacy practices then apply.
Automatic Mode is optional. The user can decline or revoke camera permission, or select Projection Mode and enter the viewing geometry manually, without losing access to the app's other features.
Reports, exports, and sharing
Align Vision Journal can create text, printable reports, and spreadsheet files containing observations you select. These files are not sent anywhere automatically.
When you copy, print, save, or share a report, you select the destination using features provided by iOS or iPadOS. Information you send to another application, service, person, or storage provider is then subject to that recipient’s privacy practices.
Support communications
If you contact support, you voluntarily provide your email address and the contents of your message. This information is used to respond to your request and provide support.
Support email is handled through Google’s Gmail service and is therefore also subject to Google’s applicable privacy practices. Support correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain support records, comply with legal obligations, or protect the app and its users.
Please do not include sensitive personal, medical, or identifying information in support email.
Deleting information
You can delete individual observations or clear saved results within Align Vision Journal.
Removing the app also removes locally stored app data, subject to the operation of your device and its backups. Copies that you previously exported, printed, copied, or shared must be deleted separately from their destinations.
The developer cannot remotely access or delete information stored within the app on your device.
Children
Align Vision Journal is not directed specifically to children. Use by a minor should be supervised by a parent, guardian, or appropriate professional.
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a developer-operated server.
Data sales and advertising
The developer does not sell your information. Align Vision Journal does not use your observations for advertising, marketing profiles, or cross-app tracking.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if the app’s features or information-handling practices change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
