For my storybook project I want to tell the stories from Alice in Wonderland from the other characters' perspectives. I want to introduce them in the order that they appear in the original story and share their side of how they ended up in Wonderland or why they treated Alice the way they did. I always wonder what happens to other characters who did not have as big of a part in the story being told. There are a lot of characters in this particular tale who come, leave a lasting impression, and go. This gives me plenty of options to choose from when writing my version of things.
I plan to read the Alice in Wonderland books once or twice to get some inspiration for writing my storybook. Luckily, we also have an Alice in Wonderland unit that I can use for reference as well. For those who aren't familiar with this tale, the story begins with a young girl, Alice, who sees a rabbit and follows him into a hole. She was trying to catch up to him, but he was running extremely fast because he was late. She gets held up at a door she is unable to fit through, which is just the start of her struggles in Wonderland. As the story progresses, Alice has many adventures with a variety of interesting characters, such as: the Mad Hatter, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, and the Red Queen and King . She always seems to get herself out of trouble and the story ends with her avoiding her final conflict by waking herself up. The Looking Glass story provides more insight to familiar characters and introduces some new characters as well. I enjoyed seeing another side to the Red Queen and getting to know the White Queen. Although she encountered many similar adventures in the Looking Glass, I thought her ways of traveling from place to place was more abrupt than the original Wonderland adventures.
Have you ever wondered why the judgmental flowers were so rude to Alice? Why the rabbit was running so late for? Or what was going through the Mad Hatter's head half of the time? I know I have always wanted the answers to those questions, and to find out what happens to everyone else once Alice leaves Wonderland. I plan to answer my own questions, and I hope you enjoy the way I fill in the gaps!
